Researchers from M.I.T., along with the medical school at Brown University in Rhode Island, have opened the nation’s first stool sample bank.

About 14,000 American’s die each year from a gastrointestinal infection (Clostridium difficile) and doctors have found fecal transplants are an effective remedy.

The problem is, it’s a very new thing and finding safe samples isn’t easy.

So, the poop bank (OpenBiome) offers clean samples to hospitals from screened patients for $250 a pop.

The FDA is working on rules for transplants but they say they won’t go after doctors who use them now.
