Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme [[ hah-mee ]] is sharing more details about a serious health scare he suffered back in 2010.

In an interview on Marc Maron's "WTF" podcast, Homme says he developed a MRSA, or an antibiotic-resistant staph infection.  He says his strenuous work scheduled probably contributed to the infection and weakened his immune system, making it nearly impossible to shake.

Josh says he was scared for his life, and revealed that he actually did die during a subsequent surgery.  He explains that doctors lost him briefly while trying to put an oxygen tube down his throat.  But Homme said there was no "tunnel" with this near-death experience, joking that there must have been traffic.

While he may be able to laugh about it now, Homme says it was a long time before he felt whole again.  When he came out of the surgery, he says he had lost the music in his head that he had heard since he was a kid.  Homme says he'd never been "knocked down that hard" before, noting that it was a couple years before the music returned.
