Listen to Guns N' Roses on iHeartRadio

Guns N' Roses' DJ Ashba says neither he nor the people involved in his wedding proposal last summer did anything wrong.

The rocker tells Las Vegas' Fox5 "More Access" there was "a lot of false information that was fed to the public" about the incident.  He explains that he took his then-bride-to-be on "an approved ride" in a police helicopter and they "followed protocol," but authorities acted as if they "jumped a fence and stole a helicopter late at night."

Ashba adds that a year earlier he'd gone on a police ride-along and posted a "thank you" on Instagram, and afterward there was "not a peep."  The guitarist says he was offered the helicopter tour this time, and accepted because it was "a big day" for him.

Ashba reportedly had a rose-covered table set up at police headquarters, and when they landed he proposed to girlfriend Nathalia Henao.  The guitarist later posted his gratitude on Instagram, giving a specific "thank you" to the police captain who helped make all the arrangements.

The captain ended up retiring and the pilot was transferred as a result of the incident.  However, Ashba says there's more to the story, which he's not ready to publicly reveal just yet.
