Listen to As I Lay Dying on iHeartRadio

A pair of dueling statements about the future of metal band As I Lay Dying have recently surfaced online.

The first was posted to the official As I Lay Dying website Wednesday, and apparently comes from frontman Tim Lambesis and drummer Jordan Mancino, the group's only official members.  The statement explains that in the wake of Lambesis' guilty plea on murder-for-hire charges, they've put the band on hold for the foreseeable future.

Whatever happens at Lambesis' sentencing next month, the statement says he has "a lot of other more important things in his personal life" to work on before he contemplates pursuing As I Lay Dying again.  However, he's also been recording music for a new, unnamed project that he plans to unveil soon.  And while he intends to always release new music, Lambesis' future regardless of his sentence will not include a return to full-time touring.

Mancino, meanwhile, is working on new music with the other members of the most recent As I Lay Dying lineup.  They released a statement of their own Wednesday via guitarist Nick Hipa's Facebook page, explaining that they had nothing to do with the statement on  Apparently only Lambesis has access to the site, so they've been putting out samples of their music on their personal social media accounts.  And even though the As I Lay Dying statement wasn't part of their original plan, Hipa and company say they remain positive and are looking forward to sharing new music soon.
